Phrasha-Criti.jpg

Special Jury Mention

Phrasha-Criti | Araz Quliyev | Azerbaijan | 0:22:30

Jury Statement:

An ambitious homage to Man with a Movie Camera, Berlin: Symphony of a Metropolis, and Koyaanisqatsi, Phrasha-Criti is an uncanny visual poem marked by striking compositions, unusual kinetics, and imaginative distortions of time and space. Its curious gaze casts a surreal light on what we usually consider normal, provoking both unease and reflection.

Green Grey Black Brown.jpg

Green Grey Black Brown | Yuyan Wang | China, France, Korea, Republic of | 0:11:30

Jury Statement:

In Green Grey Black Brown, filmmaker and video artist Yuyan Wang harnesses the full potential of the screen to deliver a darkly prophetic warning. Haunting and mesmerizing, the work unfolds as a ceaselessly shifting, phantasmagorical visual hymn to the restless metamorphic power of petroleum.

The Silence After The Storm | Alina Rizwan | Pakistan | 0:10:47

Jury Statement:

The Silence After the Storm captivated the jury with its dramatic intensity. The film’s portrayal of people’s struggle with — and vulnerability before — the forces of nature is both moving and thought-provoking. Unlike many ecological narratives, this work focuses not on destruction but on coexistence and the search for harmony within nature. It left a lasting impression on the jury.

We sincerely thank the DokuEcho Jury — Ruslan Mollayev, Emin Afandiyev, and Richard James Allen — for their dedication, thoughtful insights, and careful deliberations in selecting this year’s winners.
