THREE SISTERS
Lolita Ismailova | Russian Federation
For its powerful dramatic narrative and poetic reflection on hope, belonging, and community, Three Sisters by Lolita Ismailova receives a Special Mention from the DokuEcho Jury. With a rare sense of trust between the camera and its characters, the film gently draws us into the intimate world of three sisters, where humanity is revealed as inseparable from nature. In the remoteness of their world, community becomes not only a means of survival, but also a way to find connection, joy, and hope.
EYEMystic Award
LIKE ANY OTHER MORTAL
Maria Molina Peiró | Netherlands, Spain
Like Another Mortal is awarded for masterfully combining the ecological, social, political, and religious layers of its story through a distinctive cinematic language. And also for its ability to convey, through the genre of magical realism, the idea that environmental problems are deeply rooted in the conditions of capitalism and cannot be addressed separately from the broader socio-political and economic challenges that shape society.
